Application for Law Student Internship Page 5 of 5 HR Form Rev May 2023 Organization: Florida Attorney General's Office Job Title: Law Student Internship Program Experience: Law student Salary: Unpaid, academic credit available Application Deadlines: - Spring: September 30 - Summer: January 31 (extended to March 1 for 2024) - Fall: June 30 Overview: - The Florida Attorney General's Office offers a Law Student Internship Program for interested students enrolled in an accredited ABA law school. - Internships are primarily for law students and are available for academic credit or through participation in law school sponsored programs. - Students must be able to intern a minimum of 20 hours per week, or as prescribed by their college or school. - The number and locations of internships available each term is based on agency need and opportunity. - Interested students are encouraged to apply early as applications are accepted on a rolling basis. - The internship program provides practical experience in a legal field and offers students a chance to perform meaningful work towards the completion of their degree. Eligibility: - Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited ABA law school. - Applicants must be able to intern a minimum of 20 hours per week. - Applicants must be eligible to receive academic credit for their internship at the Florida Attorney General's Office. - Non-credit seeking students may also apply through participation in law school sponsored programs such as Pro Bono Programs, Law School sponsored clinics, Law School Paid Stipend programs, etc. Application Requirements: - Application for Internship - Resume - Letter from Advisor or University confirming enrollment and eligibility for academic credit or participation in a law school sponsored program - Official Transcript (unofficial accepted if not available online, official required if chosen) - 2nd and 3rd year law students must provide a writing sample at the time of interview, if selected. Internship Opportunities: - Antitrust Division: Represents and defends State prosecutions in all criminal appeals in the five state courts of appeal, the Florida Supreme Court and federal courts. - Capital Appeals Division: Handles death penalty litigation statewide before the Florida Supreme Court and federal courts. - Civil Appeals Division: Represents and defends State prosecutions in all civil appeals in the five state courts of appeal, the Florida Supreme Court and federal courts. - Civil Legal Services - Child Support Enforcement Division: Handles child support enforcement matters. - Civil Legal Services - Ethics Division: Handles ethics matters. - Civil Legal Services - Revenue Litigation Division: Handles revenue litigation matters. - Civil Litigation Division: Handles civil litigation matters. - Civil Litigation - Complex Litigation Division: Handles complex civil litigation matters. - Criminal Appeals Division: Represents and defends State prosecutions in all criminal appeals in the five state courts of appeal, the Florida Supreme Court and federal courts. - Consumer Protection Division: Handles consumer protection matters. - Cyber Fraud Unit: Handles cyber fraud matters. - Executive Staff Division: Handles matters for the Attorney General and the Florida Cabinet (summer only). - Medicaid Fraud Control - Civil Enforcement Division: Handles civil enforcement matters. - Solicitor General Division: Handles matters for the Solicitor General. - Statewide Prosecution Division: Handles statewide prosecution matters.
