A law firm is seeking a Personal Injury Attorney for their Houston, TX office. The candidate will be responsible for managing a caseload of various types of personal injury matters in litigation, including trial participation. They will draft legal documents, prepare clients for depositions and hearings, negotiate settlements, and support investigation on assigned litigation matters. Mentorship by senior attorneys and participation in focus groups, trial preparation, and attorney skill programs will be provided.

 

Duties:

  • Manage a caseload of various types of personal injury matters in litigation.
  • Prepare and draft legal documents, including filing complaints.
  • Draft meet and confer letters to opposing counsel regarding discovery disputes.
  • Prepare clients for depositions and other applicable hearings.
  • Take and defend depositions throughout the course of litigation.
  • Prepare and respond to motions, including dispositive motions.
  • Attend court appearances.
  • Prepare for trial.
  • Negotiate settlements for personal injury cases.
  • Direct and support investigation on all assigned litigation matters.
  • Assess potential and current matters for valuation purposes to aid in early resolution.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor degree and current good standing with CA State Bar.
  • 1-4 years of Personal Injury Law Experience.
  • Strong background in Personal Injury Litigation, including pre-litigation case management and discovery.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
  • Workers Compensation experience is a plus.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor degree and current good standing with CA State Bar.

 

Experience:

1-4 years of Personal Injury Law Experience.

 

Skills:

  • Trial preparation and participation.
  • Deposition preparation and defense.
  • Legal document drafting.
  • Negotiation skills.
