A law firm in Chicago, IL, is seeking an experienced Immigration Attorney with 3-5 years of experience to join their team. Reporting to the Managing Immigration Attorney, the candidate will manage their caseload, interact with clients, and collaborate with the Immigration Team. The role involves explaining immigration concepts, representing individuals in removal proceedings, preparing immigration applications, and providing strategic solutions.

 

Duties:

  • Explain immigration concepts and present strategic solutions to clients
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals
  • Manage workload of immigration cases effectively
  • Visit and conduct intake with detained individuals at detention centers
  • Prepare diverse immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based immigration petitions
  • Review immigration applications/packets and make necessary adjustments
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on changes in immigration law
  • Conduct strategic immigration consultations with potential clients and determine necessary strategies
  • Develop strategies and prepare clients/witnesses for court and USCIS testimony
  • Provide legal analysis to determine possible case benefits
  • Prepare and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases

 

 

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of immigration law experience
  • Bar admission in the state of Illinois
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish preferred
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian, EOIR, Detained, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications
  • Familiarity with Case Management Software preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team

 

Education and Certifications:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
