The candidate will defend public schools and governmental entities in special education/disability rights litigation and provide consultation and advice on special education matters. Preference will be given to candidates with a background in special education, public speaking experience, interpersonal skills, and experience representing governmental entities in federal litigation.

 

Duties:

  • Defend public schools and governmental entities in special education/disability rights litigation.
  • Provide consultation and advice to public schools on special education matters.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on special education laws and regulations.
  • Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs for litigation cases.
  • Represent clients in federal litigation involving special education issues.
  • Attend meetings and hearings with clients and opposing parties.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and legal staff on case strategy and execution.
  • Maintain communication with clients and provide updates on case developments.
  • Assist with negotiation and settlement of special education disputes.
  • Stay updated on changes in special education laws and policies.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of Texas or eligibility for admission by reciprocity.
  • 1-3 years of experience practicing law.
  • Background or experience in special education (preferred).
  • Public speaking experience (preferred).
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Experience representing governmental entities in federal litigation (preferred).

 

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of Texas or eligibility for admission by reciprocity.
