Overview:

The Florida House of Representatives is seeking a highly qualified and experienced attorney to join our team as the House Attorney for the Transportation & Modals Subcommittee. This position will primarily focus on issues related to transportation through various modes, including highways and streets, air, rail, sea, spaceports, public transit, and bicycle and pedestrian facilities. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of Florida laws and legal procedures, as well as excellent research and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

- Analyze and summarize proposed legislation to determine its effectiveness and impact on the state and other entities and individuals
- Conduct state and federal legal research and interpret laws and regulations
- Draft legislation and amendments
- Monitor the progress of committee legislation and ensure legislative intent is met
- Stay updated on relevant issues through research and attending workshops and conferences
- Prepare reports and correspondence
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to the efficient functioning of the committee staff

Qualifications:

- Strong knowledge of legal terminology and research methods
- Familiarity with transportation laws and regulations
- Excellent reading comprehension, analysis, and organizational skills
- Ability to communicate effectively and work independently
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Ability to handle pressure and produce quality work within deadlines
