Position Summary:

- Seeking a strategic and analytical Tax Manager with experience in Unclaimed Property Tax and State and Local Tax (SALT) to join our Multistate Tax Services (MTS) group.
- Opportunity to work with one of the largest SALT practices in the United States and make a significant impact on organizations.
- Recruiting for this role ends on May 31st, 2025.

The Team:

- Deloitte's MTS group is the largest SALT practice in the United States with over 1,000 professionals nationwide.
- Our team includes former state tax auditors and administrators, industry personnel, tax practitioners, and technology experts.
- We have extensive experience with the tax laws and requirements in all 50 states.
- Our services include state income and franchise tax, indirect tax, business restructuring, credits and incentives, sales and use tax outsourcing, excise tax, property tax, state strategic tax review, and state tax controversy.

Responsibilities:

- Provide tax consulting and compliance services to a diverse client base in various industries.
- Work directly with clients, manage tax engagement teams, and have access to specialists and firm leadership for support.
- Assess state and local tax burden for clients and recommend solutions that align with their business objectives.
- Assist with compliance for unclaimed property tax, including uncashed payroll checks and aged accounts receivable credits.
- Assist with unclaimed property audits, including preparation, document review, and representing clients in meetings.
- Research and draft technical memoranda on unclaimed property compliance rules.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop staff.

Qualifications:

Required:

- Ability to work within a hybrid work model, with in-person co-location 2-3 days per week.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in state and local tax, with a focus on unclaimed property tax.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- Accreditation in one of the following: CPA, licensed attorney, enrolled agent, or CFE.
- Ability to travel up to 10% for work.

Preferred:

- Advanced degree such as Masters of Tax, JD, or LLM.
- Demonstrable tax knowledge in various state and local tax areas.
- Previous consulting experience.
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
- Proficiency in tax software and a willingness to learn new technology.

Salary Information:

- The disclosed range estimate is $95,900 to $203,060, taking into account various factors such as skills, experience, and location.
- Compensation decisions are dependent on individual circumstances and typically do not fall at the top of the range for the role.
- Eligibility for discretionary annual incentive program based on individual and organizational performance.
