The premier title services company, Stewart, is seeking an experienced Underwriting Counsel to join our team and help transform the title services industry. In this role, you will provide expertise and support for residential and commercial underwriting in Connecticut real estate transactions. You will also be responsible for developing and maintaining business relationships with internal and external customers.

Job Responsibilities:

- Review and evaluate title searches and insurance risk factors
- Communicate underwriting requirements to counsel for buyers, sellers, and lenders
- Evaluate risk and exposures to determine acceptability of business
- Provide timely responses to inquiries and effectively communicate underwriting decisions
- Act as a resource for colleagues and provide guidance to less experienced team members
- Determine premiums, terms, and conditions based on established rules and guidelines
- Conduct education seminars on real estate law and title issues
- Attend industry and company functions as a subject matter expert in real estate law and title insurance
- Perform a range of assignments and may lead projects within own discipline
- Work with limited oversight as an individual contributor
- Perform all other duties as assigned by management

Education:

- Juris Doctor degree and admission to the Connecticut Bar

Experience:

- 3+ years of experience in real estate law with demonstrated real estate title knowledge
- Transactional experience preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
