A law firm in Boston, MA, is seeking a Patent Agent who will have the opportunity to work on a variety of US and foreign patent prosecution matters, including Inter Partes Reviews, and provide support for the freedom to operate analyses. Additionally, the candidate will be involved in performing due diligence for corporate transactions and technology transfers. This role also includes assisting in the development of IP strategies for emerging technology companies and participating in strategic portfolio development for public technology companies. The preferred candidates for this position will have experience in drafting patent applications and responding to office actions. The ideal candidate should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong academic credentials, and a background in at least one or more of the following areas: computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, mechanical engineering, and/or electrical engineering. While admission to the Patent Bar is preferred, it is not a mandatory requirement.

Duties:

  • Collaborate on US and foreign patent prosecution matters, including Inter Partes Reviews.
  • Assist with freedom to operate analyses and perform due diligence for corporate transactions and technology transfers.
  • Contribute to the development of intellectual property strategies for emerging technology companies.
  • Participate in strategic portfolio development for public technology companies.
  • Draft patent applications and prepare responses to office actions.

Requirements:

  • Strong interest and background in patent law and intellectual property.
  • Experience in drafting patent applications and responding to office actions is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional academic credentials.
  • Educational background in one or more of the following areas: computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, mechanical engineering, and/or electrical engineering.
  • Preferred admission to the Patent Bar (not mandatory).

Education:

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in a relevant technical field.

Certifications:

  • Preferred admission to the Patent Bar.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in patent prosecution, including Inter Partes Reviews.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Capacity to develop and execute IP strategies.
