A law firm is seeking a Patent Agent to join their team in Philadelphia. The Patent Agent will play a crucial role in supporting patent attorneys with the preparation and prosecution of patent applications. The ideal candidate will work closely with inventors, assist in identifying patentable inventions, and conduct research on current patented technologies. Additionally, the Patent Agent will draft patent applications, track the patent application process, perform ability searches, respond to office actions, and consistently meet billable hour requirements. The candidate should possess excellent problem-solving skills, be adept at providing client solutions, and work collaboratively within the patent team.

 

Duties:

  • Assist patent attorneys in preparing and prosecuting patent applications.
  • Collaborate with inventors on newly created products.
  • Identify patentable inventions through research and analysis.
  • Draft patent applications with the guidance of the patent team.
  • Track the patent application process from initiation to granted patent.
  • Conduct regular ability searches to support patentable work.
  • Respond to office actions and correspond with the . Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Meet billable hour requirements consistently.
  • Provide solutions to client challenges and respond to client needs.
  • Identify and suggest solutions to day-to-day problems.
  • Prioritize and complete daily tasks effectively.
  • Share information, keeping the team informed about progress and challenges.
  • Give positive and constructive feedback to peers and train new employees.
  • Work autonomously and anticipate future business needs.
  • Attend required training and accept planned changes willingly.
  • Work as a collaborative member of the team, understanding team goals and values.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering.
  • Preferably a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • USPTO Registration is required.

 

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering.

 

Certifications:

USPTO Registration.
