Responsibilities: - Develop and implement legal strategies and policies for Steadily, including insurance product development, regulatory compliance, and claims litigation. - Work with product and actuarial teams to launch new insurance products, negotiate reinsurance, and manage compliance with state regulations. - Oversee external counsel and their work in various legal domains, including venture capital, employee matters, and contracts. - Collaborate with the CEO and COO to set the vision and direction for Steadily's legal department. - Stay up-to-date on industry developments and changes in insurance laws and regulations. - Handle any legal disputes or issues that may arise, working closely with the leadership team to find effective solutions. - Serve as a key member of the Operations department, working cross-functionally with other teams to ensure legal compliance and support business growth. Qualifications: - Juris Doctor degree and active license to practice law in at least one state. - Minimum of 8 years of experience in the insurance industry, with a focus on insurance law and regulations. - Strong understanding of insurance product development, reinsurance, and claims litigation. - Experience managing external counsel and overseeing legal matters for a tech company. - Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment and adapt to changing priorities. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. - Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
