A law firm in Hackensack, NJ is seeking a Matrimonial Lawyer to handle all aspects of divorce and family law cases. The ideal candidate will be experienced in managing case deadlines, mentoring less seasoned associates, and representing clients in court. Additionally, the role offers opportunities for professional development through education, speaking engagements, and involvement in family law organizations.

 

Duties:

  • Handle all aspects of divorce and family law cases from inception through completion.
  • Expertly manage case deadlines to ensure timely resolution.
  • Act as a mentoring attorney to less seasoned associates, providing guidance and support.
  • Expect significant Court time representing clients in legal proceedings.
  • Attend and participate in major Family Law Continuing Legal Education (CLE) events.
  • Opportunity to join the executive committee of major family law organizations.
  • Meet and interface with clients to understand their needs and provide legal advice.
  • Experience drafting motions, pleadings, memorandum, discovery demands and responses, correspondence, etc.
  • Experienced in all aspects of family law, including divorce matters, child custody, child support, domestic violence, pre- and post-marital agreements, dissolutions, and post-decree modifications.
  • Attend court appearances in New Jersey to represent clients effectively.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the New Jersey State Bar.
  • Experience in family law, particularly in divorce and matrimonial matters.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience mentoring junior attorneys is preferred.

 

Preferred Certifications:

Certification in family law or related fields is advantageous.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Proficiency in legal research and case management software.
  • Strong negotiation and advocacy skills.
  • Compassionate and empathetic approach to working with clients.
