Job Description:

- The Deputy General Counsel III position at the Oklahoma Health Care Authority reports to the General Counsel and provides legal advice and representation for the agency and board in administrative and judicial proceedings.
- The role involves analyzing, reviewing, and researching copyright, trademark, software, and related issues for the agency, as well as providing legal support for IT issues and litigation support.
- The Deputy General Counsel III also represents the agency in administrative and judicial proceedings, prosecutes and defends actions on behalf of the agency, and reviews and analyzes contracts and makes changes to assist the agency.
- Other responsibilities include coordinating referrals and investigative efforts, analyzing proposed legislation, addressing contract bid issues, and handling HIPAA and Open Records Act issues.
- The role also involves attending meetings to explain the Medicaid program and serving as the principal contact for legal advice and assistance to an administrative unit.
- The Deputy General Counsel III will have first- and second-chair responsibility in state and federal court proceedings, as well as research state and federal law related to the Medicaid program and attend meetings with stakeholders.
- Travel may be required on an as-needed basis.

Education and Experience:

- Bachelor's degree and Juris Doctorate Degree from an ABA accredited Law School.
- Minimum of six years of experience in the practice of law.
- Active member of the State Bar of Oklahoma.

Preference may be given to candidates with:

- Senior level administrative experience at OHCA.
- Legal experience at OHCA.
- Litigation experience.
- Other relevant legal and/or administrative experience.
- Significant background in health care administration, health care insurance, and/or state or federal health care programs.
- Advanced education.
- Additional certifications.
- Use of computer research and case management software.

Special Requirements:

- Must be able to remain sitting for prolonged periods at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to move or lift up to 15 pounds at various times.
- The office work environment includes regular exposure to general office equipment such as computer equipment, phones, and copy machines.
