A law firm in Chicago is seeking a Patent Agent with a background in aerospace engineering and engine technology. The ideal candidate must be a registered patent agent with examining experience at the . PTO or patent drafting experience in a law firm setting. Holding undergraduate and/or graduate degrees in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, or computer science is required. The role strongly prefers previous experience as a patent examiner, and industry experience is considered a plus. Exceptional academic credentials, strong writing skills, and sharp analytical ability are essential.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct patent searches and analyze prior art.
  • Draft and prosecute patent applications.
  • Provide technical support and expertise in aerospace engineering and engine technology.
  • Collaborate with inventors and attorneys to prepare patent filings.
  • Communicate with the . PTO and international patent offices.
  • Stay informed about changes in patent laws and regulations.
  • Assist in the analysis of patent-related legal issues.
  • Participate in internal meetings and client discussions.

 

Requirements:

  • Background in aerospace engineering and engine technology.
  • Registered patent agent with examining experience at the . PTO or patent drafting experience in a law firm setting.
  • Undergraduate and/or graduate degrees in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, or computer science.
