A law firm based in Philadelphia, PA, is seeking a Mid-level Intellectual Property Patent Agent to primarily focus on patent counseling, procurement, and opinions, with additional opportunities for licensing and enforcement. The ideal candidate will possess practical experience and an in-depth knowledge of Biology or Biotechnology, along with a minimum of 4 years of patent prosecution experience.

 

Duties:

  • Counsel clients on effective IP strategy options.
  • Engage in patent procurement activities, including preparation and prosecution of complex patent applications.
  • Prosecute a global patent portfolio across multiple jurisdictions by coordinating with foreign patent counsel.
  • Consult with inventors, technical experts, and patent portfolio managers.
  • Conduct IP related due diligence for opinions, including patentability, freedom to operate, and infringement and invalidity analyses.

 

Requirements:

  • . or MS in a biology discipline (., molecular biology, cell biology, microbiology, genetics, biochemistry, or biotechnology).
  • Good standing in the bar(s) where licensed to practice law if an attorney.
  • Active USPTO Registration.

 

Experience:

  • 4+ years of patent prosecution experience.
  • Experience in preparation and prosecution of patent applications, managing global patent portfolios, client counseling, and opinion development.
