Company-paid Long-Term and Short-Term Disability Insurance. 401K with employer matching contributions. # General Counsel (Fully Remote, NJ Based) ## Job Description The Vice President and General Counsel is responsible for all corporate legal affairs and compliance for a growing national MGA insurance business operating in highly-regulated markets. As a member of the NIP leadership team, this hands-on role will be key to developing and executing corporate governance policies, compliance programs and professional standards for all business units with an emphasis on complex regulatory, business and employment matters to align business activities, reduce risk exposure, mitigate legal costs and remove growth obstacles. ## Responsibilities - Advise executive, senior management on various legal, regulatory, employment matters and corporate political activities, and new and existing laws and regulations. - Manage organization's legal, regulatory, compliance and employment related matters. - Oversee complex business and employment litigation managed by outside law firms including the selection and performance management regarding their assignments, including setting and monitoring engagements, budgets, and billings and actively managing cost controls and service - Conduct research and review company's strategy pertaining to regulatory, corporate political activities and legal actions and new developments. - Enhance and implement legal, compliance, employment practices and professional risk standards and risk management programs - Examine and create draft agreements, such as service provider and program administrator, employment and vendor agreements. - Maintaining knowledge of organization’s operations and legal documents. - Promulgating and creating directives of corporate acts and decisions and preserving corporate records. - Handling statutory filings, such as licensing forms. - Creating new entities and managing organization's intellectual property. ## Qualifications - . - 7+ years of practice with an practice with an established insurance law firm and / or the combination of general or assistant general counsel position within the insurance industry. - Proficient legal experience in insurance regulations. - Experience with corporate governance issues and licensing duties. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong financial acumen. - Knowledge of statutes, rules and regulations pertaining to the insurance industry. - Proficient understanding of business sensitivities and confidentiality. ## Salary and Benefits The Vice President and General Counsel position offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package.
