Justice Action Center is seeking a Counsel to join our team and contribute to our impact litigation goals. This is a full-time, fully remote position, open to individuals residing in the United States. We are looking for a candidate who is committed to filling gaps in impact litigation for immigrant communities, able to work remotely in a start-up environment, and has a passion for combining storytelling and litigation to bring justice to vulnerable populations. The Counsel will report to the Legal Director and will have the opportunity to manage an active case load, develop legal strategy, and work closely with clients and co-counsel to bring about systemic change. As a Counsel at JAC, you will have the opportunity to: - Manage an active case load of complex litigation in federal court, including developing legal strategy, drafting legal filings, and representing JAC and our clients in conferences and oral arguments. - Interact and build relationships with clients and potential plaintiffs to amplify their stories and bring about change. - Contribute to JAC’s vision and strategy for combining litigation and storytelling to fill unmet legal needs for immigrant communities. - Collaborate with a diverse team of colleagues, including legal and communications departments, co-counsel, and movement partners. - Engage with directly impacted leaders and work towards a more inclusive society. - Work in a fully remote position with occasional out-of-state travel required. To be considered for this position, you must have: - A . from an accredited law school, active membership in at least one state bar, and admission to practice law in at least one . federal jurisdiction. - At least 4 years of experience in complex federal litigation and impact litigation. - Strong legal strategy, analytical, drafting, and editing skills. - Excellent communication skills, both in legal advocacy and broader public communications. - A commitment to civil liberties and social justice. - The ability to work collaboratively and creatively in a start-up environment. - A commitment to best practices for equity, diversity, inclusion, and work-life balance.
