A law firm in Chicago is seeking a Mid-Senior Level Patent Litigation Associate Attorney to work closely with clients, providing solutions to navigate patent laws and judicial decisions. The candidate will be responsible for drafting legal documents, communicating with opposing counsel, conducting depositions, preparing for trial, and supervising junior associates. Patent trial experience is preferred, along with USPTO admission and a background in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.

 

Duties:

  • Draft pleadings, motions, memoranda, and correspondence for state and federal court proceedings, arbitration, and mediation.
  • Respond to complex discovery requests and prepare for, defend, and conduct depositions.
  • Prepare for trial, including exhibit lists, evidentiary objections, motions in limine, and witness preparation.
  • Draft Federal Circuit appeal briefs and supervise and train junior associates.
  • Provide solutions for navigating competitors’ patents and extracting value from intellectual property while protecting assets.

 

Requirements:

  • 6-8 years of patent litigation experience.
  • Significant experience with drafting pleadings and responding to pleadings.
  • Experience in preparing infringement and invalidity claim charts.
  • Familiarity with Markman and claim construction proceedings.
  • Proficiency in patent-specific fact and expert discovery.
  • Experience with inter partes reviews and overall litigation strategy.
  • USPTO admission.
  • Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science preferred.
  • Strong academic credentials.
  • Superb judgment and communication skills.
  • Commitment to providing excellent client services.
