Job Duties:

- Represent the United States Postal Service in the prosecution of federal crimes.
- Develop and recommend strategies for complex cases such as mail theft, mail fraud, and narcotics violations.
- Conduct all aspects of criminal discovery, motions practice, trials, and appeals.
- Meet with defense attorneys to conduct pre-trial conferences and negotiations.
- Collaborate with postal inspectors, law enforcement agents, witnesses, and victims during criminal investigations and trial preparation.
- Conduct legal research, prepare memoranda and briefs, and draft pleadings.

Requirements:

- Must be a . Citizen or National.
- Must have a . degree from an American Bar Association accredited law school.
- Must be an active member of the bar in good standing in the State of California.
- Must have a minimum of 3 years work experience in legal practice, with one year being met through a judicial clerkship.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
- Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening.
- Current career USPS and USPIS employees are ineligible to apply.

Qualifications:

- Ability to conduct legal research and gather and interpret information accurately.
- Ability to provide legal advice and formulate opinions on federal, state, and local laws.
- Experience litigating cases before federal courts.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain status as a Special Assistant . Attorney.
- Must be a licensed, active member of the bar in good standing in the State of California.
- Must successfully pass a Tier 5 Single-Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) and a Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) if required.
- Must have a Juris Doctor degree from an American Bar Association accredited law school.
- Must be a current licensed member in good standing with the State Bar of California.
- Must successfully pass a drug screening.
