Senior Counsel, Special Matters - CLO, Legal San Francisco, California About the Role: - Oversee and manage litigation and claims for Uber's insurance policies - Work closely with insurance partners and outside counsel to drive innovative solutions - Collaborate with various business teams, from operations to safety, to evaluate and manage risk - Constantly innovate in the area of insurance for drivers and riders What You'll Do: - Manage mass torts and a portfolio of general liability litigation for Uber - Analyze claims and cases to make strategic decisions and set legal precedent - Assist in managing outside counsel with a focus on mass torts and appeals - Collaborate with business and legal teams on risk management initiatives - Support new insurance initiatives and work closely with the insurance legal team on global coverage for Uber Basic Qualifications: - Minimum of 8 years of legal experience managing high-severity cases or 7 years with at least 1 year at Uber - . and license to practice law in at least one . state Preferred Qualifications: - In-house experience strongly preferred, with expertise in managing mass actions and mass torts cases through all stages - Solid case evaluation abilities, critical thinking skills, and the capacity to oversee a large portfolio of high-severity matters - First-chair mediation and trial experience a plus - Extensive deposition experience, including presenting both lay and expert witnesses - Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a team - Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with business leaders and cross-functional partners - Self-motivated with a strategic problem-solving mindset - Excellent business judgment and communication skills - Strong ethical standards and accountability - Passion for Uber and making a big impact Salary Information: - San Francisco, CA-based roles: USD$232,000 - USD$258,000 per year - Eligible for Uber's bonus program and may be offered equity and other types of compensation - Eligible for various benefits, details can be found on the Uber careers website Uber is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer and considers all qualified applicants regardless of sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, color, religion, national origin, disability, protected Veteran status, age, or any other characteristic protected by law.
