A law firm in Georgetown, TX, is seeking an Associate Attorney focusing on immigration law to lead a team in managing high-volume casework. The successful candidate will spearhead the research and drafting of responses to Requests for Evidence (RFE), Notices of Intent to Deny (NOID), and appellate briefs while providing leadership and oversight to ensure timely and effective client representation.

Duties:

  • Lead a team in researching and drafting responses to RFEs, NOIDs, and appellate briefs.
  • Train and mentor a team of writers in written advocacy, research, and litigation skills.
  • Oversee a team of support specialists, ensuring timely provision of additional evidence to support case-dispositive inquiries.
  • Manage the RFE response team to meet all deadlines and continuously improve response quality.
  • Implement and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to manage high volumes of work efficiently.
  • Track and identify trends in RFEs to enhance RFE and application processes.
  • Analyze and evaluate communications from USCIS, including RFEs, NOIDs, and application denials.
  • Evaluate application materials and identify additional evidence to strengthen cases.
  • Provide comprehensive training on legal and factual research techniques to the team.
  • Review case submissions to USCIS for attorney approval before submission.

Requirements:

  • Graduation from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Bar admission to practice law in a US state or territory.
  • A minimum of 3 years of litigation experience, focusing on written advocacy.
  • Demonstrated leadership or management experience.
  • Ideally, at least 1 year of experience as an immigration attorney with expertise in researching and drafting responses to RFEs or NOIDs.
  • Experience with various immigration applications, such as VAWA, T-Visa, U-Visa, Asylum, etc., is advantageous.
  • Substantial experience in legal research and drafting.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is desirable.
  • Preference for candidates with an appellate background or extensive experience in drafting dispositive motions briefs.
  • Prior immigration experience, particularly with responding to RFEs, NOIDs, and/or humanitarian-based cases, is a plus.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Bar admission to practice law in a US state or territory.
