The Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) is currently seeking a part-time Attorney III to join their team. TDI is a state agency responsible for regulating the insurance industry, administering the Texas workers’ compensation system, and educating and protecting consumers. In this role, the Attorney III will provide legal support to TDI's open records team. The position requires a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school, licensure to practice law in Texas, and three years of legal experience. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, an excellent communicator, and have experience with legal research and writing.

H2: Position Responsibilities
· Provide training, guidance, and legal advice to agency staff on matters related to the Public Information Act, Open Records Opinions, and insurance regulation and administrative law
· Assist with training staff on internal processes
· Coordinate the drafting and review of legal documents
· Communicate with clients and members of the public
· Participate in meetings and trainings on legal issues
· Analyze complex legal matters
· Collaborate with management to ensure business continuity goals are met
· Other duties as assigned

H2: Qualifications
· Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
· Licensure to practice law in Texas
· Member in good standing with the State Bar of Texas
· Three years of legal experience
· Experience with legal research and writing
· Excellent communication and collaboration skills

· Previous experience handling requests under the Public Information Act
· Previous experience working in a document management system
· Experience advising in-house staff and management on legal issues
· Experience working for a federal, state, or local agency
