Job Overview: A law firm in Chicago, IL, is seeking a skilled Labor and Employment Attorney with substantial experience in traditional labor and employment law matters. The Attorney will be crucial in providing litigation, counseling, and transactional services to clients across various industries, focusing on issues such as wage and hour compliance, discrimination, employment agreements, and labor relations.

Duties:

  • Provide expert legal advice and counseling to clients on various labor and employment issues, including hiring, termination, discrimination, wage and hour compliance, and employee benefits.
  • Draft and review employment agreements, policies, handbooks, and other employment-related documents.
  • Represent clients in litigation matters, including single plaintiff and collective/class actions, before federal and state courts and administrative agencies.
  • Conduct due diligence and provide legal advice regarding labor and employment implications for corporate transactions.
  • Handle traditional labor matters involving unions, collective bargaining, NLRB proceedings, and labor arbitrations.
  • Conduct investigations into employment-related issues and provide recommendations based on findings.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to the Bar in Illinois or eligible for admission through reciprocity in 2024.
  • 6+ years of experience practicing labor and employment law at a reputable law firm or corporate legal department.
  • Strong academic credentials and successfully handling complex labor and employment matters.
  • Extensive experience with traditional labor matters, including collective bargaining, NLRB proceedings, and labor arbitrations.
  • Exceptional research, writing, and public speaking skills.
  • Proven ability to manage a diverse workload and work effectively under pressure.
