A law firm is seeking a Matrimonial/Family Law Attorney for their Walden, NY, office. The Matrimonial/Family Law Attorney will be responsible for handling contested and uncontested divorces, custody, and support cases. They will manage client files from start to finish, appear at court conferences and trials, and maintain excellent client relations.

 

Duties:

  • Draft motions, pleadings, and other legal documents related to family law cases.
  • Conduct depositions and gather evidence for use in court proceedings.
  • Represent clients in court conferences, hearings, and trials.
  • Build rapport with clients, provide legal counsel, and maintain open communication.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and legal staff to strategize and resolve cases effectively.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
  • Current license to practice law in New York State.
  • 3+ years of experience practicing family law.
  • Strong knowledge of New York State family law statutes and procedures.
  • Excellent writing, research, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

 

Education & Certifications:

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
  • Current license to practice law in New York State.

 

Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge of contested and uncontested divorces, custody, and support cases.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and PerfectLaw preferred.
  • Outstanding negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent courtroom demeanor and presentation skills.
