- Provide legal advice and counsel to executives and management

- Active Kansas License and at least 5 years of experience as a General Counsel in a health system

Responsibilities of General Counsel:

- Serve as primary advisor on all legal matters for Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Provide guidance on corporate policies and procedures
- Protect the interests of patients, leadership, and team members
- Conduct responsibilities with highest standards of ethics and integrity
- Analyze legal implications of corporate strategies and decisions
- Review, draft, and negotiate contracts
- Manage and oversee legal disputes, lawsuits, and claims
- Identify and mitigate legal risks associated with business activities
- Advise on corporate governance matters
- Manage and protect intellectual property
- Provide guidance on employment law matters
- Participate in due diligence processes for mergers and acquisitions
- Represent the organization in interactions with regulatory bodies and government agencies
- Conduct legal training sessions for team members
- Develop and implement ethical standards and corporate social responsibility initiatives
- Manage legal department budget
- Effectively communicate legal strategies and issues to executives, management, and other stakeholders

Minimum Qualifications:

- Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
- Active Kansas License in good standing with the Kansas State Bar Association
- 5+ years of experience as a General Counsel or similar role in a health system
- Broad legal experience in compliance, contracting, employment, and mergers and acquisitions

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- Professionalism, ethics, and integrity
- Understanding of financial management in a corporate department
- Ability to develop legal strategy and objectives
- Excellent judgement and analytical skills
- Interpersonal and communication skills for effective teamwork
- Experience with litigation and tax-exempt organizations
