Job Overview:

The Insurance Defense Associate Attorney will be responsible for independently managing a litigation caseload, and handling cases from inception to conclusion. The role involves investigating facts and claims, attending court hearings in both State and Federal courts throughout Indiana, participating in depositions, and conducting legal research to analyze and interpret relevant law sources. The successful candidate will contribute to the firm's growth by supporting senior attorneys, providing excellent client service, and demonstrating strong legal and analytical skills.

Duties:

  • Independently manage a litigation caseload, handling cases from beginning to end
  • Investigate facts and claims to determine causes of action and assess the value of claims
  • Attend court hearings in State and Federal courts throughout Indiana
  • Research, analyze, and interpret law sources, including statutes, rules, regulations, ordinances, court decisions, and legal opinions
  • Participate in depositions
  • Support senior attorneys to best serve client needs and contribute to the growth of the client base

Requirements:

  • Good standing status with the Indiana Bar
  • Experience managing a caseload, with a focus on handling all aspects of litigation
  • Interest in developing litigation skills in various fields of practice
  • Strong organization and communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to provide writing samples
  • Exceptional teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with all levels of staff and clients
  • Deposition experience preferred

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school

Skills:

  • Strong legal research, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Ability to independently manage and prioritize tasks
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools
