"New Hampshire Legal Assistance Seeking Staff Attorney for Immigrant Justice Project" Position Summary: New Hampshire Legal Assistance (NHLA) is looking for a Staff Attorney to join our Immigrant Justice Project (IJP). This position will focus on representing noncitizen survivors of crime and handling humanitarian-based matters such as asylum, U/T visa, VAWA, and SIJ cases. The Staff Attorney will also engage in community education work and be responsible for handling cases statewide in New Hampshire. Duties: • Represent noncitizen survivors of crime before EOIR and/or USCIS in various humanitarian-based matters • Implement NHLA's holistic, client-centered approach to civil legal aid, including trauma-informed lawyering practices • Provide language access and cultural humility for immigrant clients • Engage with allied community organizations and present community education programs • Collaborate with other NHLA team members Qualifications and Competencies: • Law degree and license to practice in New Hampshire, eligibility for admission on motion, or plans to sit for the New Hampshire bar exam • Prior experience in immigration law preferred • Willingness to travel regularly, including within New Hampshire and to Boston • Ability to work collaboratively within a team • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and Adobe • Experience working with low-income clients and communities a plus • Fluency in Spanish or another language preferred, with additional compensation available for bilingual staff Position Salary/Benefits: • Full-time position ( hours per week) • Salary range from $68, to $97,, depending on prior law-related work experience • Eligible for NHLA employee benefits package, including medical/dental insurance, retirement plan, and generous paid time off How to Apply: Please send your resume and a cover email to . About New Hampshire Legal Assistance: NHLA is a statewide nonprofit law firm that provides civil legal aid to low-income and older individuals and families. We represent clients in state and federal courts and advocate for them in the New Hampshire Legislature. NHLA also offers training and education to our client communities and fellow service providers. Application Process and Timeline: • Interview Committee will conduct first interviews with no more than 6 candidates • Interviews are 45 minutes in duration and can be scheduled between 9 AM and 5 PM on weekdays • Finalists will be recommended to the Executive Director for second interviews, which are 30 minutes in duration and can be scheduled between 9 AM and 5 PM on weekdays • After the second interview, finalists will be asked to provide references and a writing sample • Offer will be made to 1 candidate, contingent on completion of a criminal record background check • Candidates who are not selected will be notified after a candidate has accepted the position NHLA is an Equal Opportunity Employer and actively seeks applications from diverse communities.
