Job Title: Workers’ Compensation Defense Attorney

Location: Remote, Northern California

They are currently seeking a Workers’ Compensation Defense Attorney to join their team in Northern California. This position is remote-based with occasional in-person appearances as necessary. The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of litigation experience and be licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdictions.

Position Overview:

As a Workers’ Compensation Defense Attorney, you will be responsible for handling a caseload of Workers’ Compensation cases from inception to conclusion. This includes investigating and managing cases, negotiating with clients and claims professionals, and appearing in court as necessary. This is a full-time, exempt position.

Key Responsibilities:

- Handle a caseload of Workers’ Compensation cases
- Meet with clients and claims professionals to resolve cases in a cost-effective manner
- Develop theories and affirmative defenses
- Engage in routine motion practice, discovery, and research
- Handle depositions, hearings, conferences, and trials
- Travel to boards as needed

Requirements:

- Minimum 4 years of litigation experience
- Valid driver's license and acceptable MVR
- Licensed to practice law in relevant jurisdictions
- Strong advocacy, communication, and organizational skills

Desired Skills and Experience:

- Computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Word, Lexis/Westlaw, and email/calendar management
- Ability to work in a team environment with other attorneys, adjusters, and support staff
- Investigative and legal research skills
- Familiarity with courtroom behavior and procedures
- Dedication to providing excellent service to clients and claims professionals

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

- Ability to use a personal computer and other standard office equipment
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle and travel as needed
- Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods
