A law firm in East Lansing, MI, is seeking an Associate Attorney who is a highly motivated self-starter with strong academic credentials, exceptional research and writing skills, and interpersonal abilities. While previous work experience or demonstrated interest in certain legal areas is preferred, the successful candidate must be willing to travel throughout the state and work nights and weekends as necessary. Admission to the State Bar of Michigan is a requirement.

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel and representation to clients in various legal matters.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support cases.
  • Draft legal documents, including briefs, pleadings, and contracts.
  • Appear in court for hearings, trials, and other legal proceedings.
  • Collaborate with clients, colleagues, and legal teams.
  • Manage case files, schedules, and deadlines.
  • Maintain client relationships and provide legal advice.
  • Stay current with changes in relevant laws and regulations.

Requirements:

  • Highly motivated self-starter.
  • Excellent academic credentials.
  • Strong research and writing skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Previous work experience or demonstrated interest in education law, public sector law, labor and employment law, litigation, municipal law, or transactional law is preferred.
