Are you a current law student with a passion for the arts and a commitment to public service? Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts (VLA) is currently seeking legal interns for the spring semester. This unpaid internship offers a unique opportunity to work with New York's arts community and gain valuable hands-on experience in legal practice.

VLA's office, located in midtown Manhattan, is currently operating on a hybrid in-office/work-from-home model. Interns must be available to work at least 10-15 hours per week and receive school credit for their internship. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

Join VLA's Legal Team and Make a Difference in the Arts World

As a legal intern at VLA, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of legal issues pertaining to the arts, including intellectual property, contract, and non-profit and for-profit corporate matters. Your duties will include reviewing intake files, conducting legal research and writing, and assisting with VLA's education and development programming. This hands-on experience will provide you with valuable skills and knowledge for a future career in the arts or public service.

VLA is seeking interns with a demonstrated interest in the arts and a strong commitment to public service. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to work well in a team, and attention to detail are essential for this role. Prior coursework and experience in intellectual property and/or the arts are strongly preferred.
