A law firm in Salinas, CA, is seeking an experienced Criminal Defense Attorney to join their esteemed Criminal Defense Team. The candidate will report to the Managing Criminal Defense Attorney and be responsible for managing a caseload, interacting with clients, and collaborating with the firm's legal team to provide effective defense strategies.

 

Duties:

  • Report to the Managing Criminal Defense Attorney and manage own caseload.
  • Advise clients on their legal rights and draw up legal documents pertaining to their cases.
  • Attend pretrial hearings on behalf of clients and provide post-hearing advice on best strategies.
  • Manage court appearances, trials, drafting motions, interviewing witnesses, and conducting legal research.
  • Analyze probable case outcomes using knowledge of legal precedents.
  • Provide legal analysis to clients to determine potential case benefits.
  • Gather additional evidence to support clients' cases or arguments against prosecution charges.
  • Prepare clients for depositions, determine case strategy goals, and gather information from witnesses and experts.
  • Handle complex criminal cases at the federal, state, and local levels.
  • Collaborate with fellow associates to strategize and work as a cohesive team.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Utilize interpersonal skills for effective client interaction and teamwork.

 

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of Criminal Defense experience.
  • Strong understanding of criminal law and procedures.
  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of California.
  • Experience handling complex criminal cases at multiple levels of jurisdiction.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish preferred.

 

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of California.

 

Skills:

  • Proficiency in criminal law and legal procedures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage a caseload and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Experience with court appearances, trials, and legal research.
