A law firm is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Consumer Finance Special Counsel. The Counsel will be responsible for regulatory counseling and drafting primarily concerning federal and state consumer lending laws, licensing requirements, and various acts such as the Truth in Lending Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, and Equal Credit Opportunity Act. The candidate will also handle compliance management systems, money transmission, anti-money laundering, and prudential banking regulations, with a focus on Fin-Techs, cryptocurrency, and digital assets.

 

Duties:

  • Provide regulatory counseling and drafting related to consumer lending laws.
  • Handle compliance management systems and regulatory interpretation.
  • Draft and negotiate contracts pertaining to consumer finance matters.
  • Prepare consumer and/or commercial lending documents.
  • Stay updated with changes in consumer finance laws and regulations.
  • Advise bank and non-bank financial institutions on compliance issues.
  • Handle licensing requirements for financial institutions.

 

Requirements:

  • JD from an ABA-approved law school.
  • Active member of the Bar in good standing.
  • 5+ years of relevant regulatory experience.
  • Solid experience in consumer finance, including advising financial institutions.
  • Knowledge of federal and state consumer lending laws.
  • Experience with Fair Credit Reporting Act is highly preferred.

 

Education:

JD from an ABA-approved law school.

 

Certifications:

Active member of the Bar in good standing.

 

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of consumer finance laws and regulations.
  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
