A law firm is seeking a Mid-Senior Level Energy Project Finance Associate Attorney for its Houston office. The ideal candidate should have significant experience in energy project development, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and project finance transactions, particularly focusing on renewable power and energy transition projects. The Energy Project Finance Associate Attorney will work on energy project development, M&A, and project finance transactions, with a focus on renewable energy projects. This role requires expertise in transactional work, energy regulatory matters, and commercial agreements.

 

Duties:

  • Draft primary deal documents, including purchase and sale agreements, investment agreements (including tax equity), financing agreements, and joint venture agreements
  • Lead complex due diligence processes
  • Manage junior associates and internal specialist teams
  • Interact with clients and oversee work product
  • Navigate energy regulatory matters and permitting requirements
  • Negotiate offtake agreements, interconnection agreements, and other commercial contracts
  • Take on significant responsibility in deal management

 

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience in the project development and finance group of a law firm
  • Admission to one or more State Bars
  • Expertise in energy project development, M&A, and project finance transactions
  • Familiarity with energy regulatory matters and permitting requirements
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, busy practice environment
  • Team-oriented approach and willingness to take on significant responsibility

 

Education:

JD degree from an accredited law school

 

Certifications:

Admission to one or more State Bars

 

Skills:

  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills
  • Excellent project management abilities
  • Client interaction and communication skills
  • Legal research and analytical skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
