A law firm is seeking a Patent Attorney to join their team in Houston, TX.

Job Overview: The Patent Attorney will be responsible for drafting and prosecuting patent applications, collaborating with inventors to assess the patentability of new AI technologies, conducting prior art searches, and staying updated on AI technology and patent laws.

Duties:

  • Drafting and prosecuting patent applications
  • Collaborating with inventors to understand new AI technologies and assess their patentability
  • Conducting and analyzing the results of prior art searches and freedom-to-operate analyses
  • Maintaining knowledge of the latest AI technology and patent laws to assist internal and external stakeholders
  • Liaising with clients to develop and manage patent portfolios

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or graduate degree (MS/PhD) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, Physics, or a related technical field involving AI/ML
  • Experience with AI models, neural networks, and deep learning
  • Experience with AI/ML theory, including backpropagation, regularization, and optimization
  • Proficiency in preprocessing data, selecting features, training/tuning models, and deploying models to production environments
  • Domain experience in autonomous vehicles, robotics, natural language processing, wireless communications, computer vision, or related AI fields preferred
  • Registered to practice with the USPTO
  • Active member and in good standing of TX Bar or eligible to waive into the appropriate Bar

Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or graduate degree (MS/PhD) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, Physics, or a related technical field involving AI/ML
  • Registered to practice with the USPTO
  • Active member and in good standing of TX Bar or eligible to waive into the appropriate Bar
