Splunk is hiring a Senior Legal Counsel, Products and Services to join our growing legal team. As a leader in the cybersecurity and observability industry, Splunk is seeking a highly experienced and motivated attorney to serve as a key legal advisor to our solutions groups and business teams. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work closely with key internal partners, provide strategic legal advice, and support the development and release of Splunk offerings. Key Responsibilities:

• Review product release checklists for issues related to intellectual property, open source, data privacy & security, marketing, competition, payment, and other legal and regulatory issues
• Build trusted relationships with senior managers and engage with cross-functional team members
• Support M&A activities, including due diligence and integration
• Review, draft and negotiate technology agreements, including inbound/OEM license agreements, MSP/ISV agreements, partner interoperability agreements, strategic alliance agreements, and consulting and development agreements
• Perform due diligence to ensure compliance with third-party agreements, open source licenses, security attestations, and government regulations and certifications
• Develop positive, strong, and collaborative relationships with cross-functional partners across Splunk
• Pitch in on other responsibilities as needed

Qualifications:

• JD degree from ABA accredited university and member in good standing of the Bar in the relevant jurisdiction
• Minimum of 10 years of experience providing legal support to technology businesses at both a well-regarded law firm and corporate legal department
• At least 6 years in the software/SaaS industry with strong understanding of cloud service offerings, including managed service offerings and multi-tenant SaaS architecture
• Ability to understand technical lingo and concepts as well as be fluent in enterprise software development methods and business models
• Understanding of Big Data (including ML/AI) preferred
• Expertise in intellectual property, open source issues, data privacy, and information and product security
• Deep experience and knowledge in reviewing technology license agreements and negotiating difficult transactions
• Experience working with software developers and product managers to guide compliance and resolve complicated issues in creative and effective ways

• Strong work ethic and a high degree of accountability
• Ability to use business context to generate pragmatic and effective legal solutions
• Self-motivated, inquisitive, and confident

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and constantly evolving environment
• Adaptable to shifting demands of different situations

Salary Information:

Base Pay Range:

• SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro Area: $216, - 297, per year
• California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and Massachusetts: $194, - 267, per year
• All other cities and states excluding California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro Area and Washington DC Metro Area: $174, - 239, per year

Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location, as well as the knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for incentive compensation and may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.
