A law firm in New York City is seeking a Biotech Intellectual Property Patent Agent/Technical Specialist to join its team. The ideal candidate will have 0-5 years of experience, an advanced degree (.) in biochemistry, immunology, molecular biology, or microbiology, and experience practicing before the USPTO. The candidate should also have an appreciation for organic chemistry and bioinformatics. Admission to practice before the USPTO as a registered . Patent Agent is required.

 

Duties:

  • Collaborate with attorneys in drafting and prosecuting patent applications before the USPTO.
  • Conduct patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses in the biotech field
  • Assist in due diligence investigations related to intellectual property in business transactions
  • Provide technical support in managing and developing patent portfolios
  • Stay current with developments in biotechnology and intellectual property law
  • Conduct prior art searches and analyze relevant scientific literature
  • Work closely with inventors and clients to understand and address their patent needs
  • Assist in the preparation of legal opinions and client communications

 

Requirements:

  • 0-5 years of relevant experience in biotech intellectual property
  • Advanced degree (.) in biochemistry, immunology, molecular biology, or microbiology
  • Experience practicing before the USPTO commensurate with the candidate’s years in practice
  • Admission (or ability to become admitted) to practice before the USPTO as a registered . Patent Agent
  • Additional appreciation of organic chemistry and bioinformatics is desired
