Job Description:

The Deputy General Counsel for Power at WSP USA leads the delivery of legal services to the Power business and provides support to alternative delivery and climate resiliency as determined by the WSP USA General Counsel. This position reports directly to the WSP USA General Counsel and is a member of the WSP USA Legal Leadership Team.

Responsibilities:

- Serve as the principal lawyer for the WSP USA Power business, providing legal advice and counsel consistent with WSP's policies
- Provide support to alternative delivery and resiliency as determined by the WSP USA General Counsel
- Work to protect the company's legal interests and maintain operations within the scope established by law
- Serve as the interface between business leadership and the WSP USA Legal team, aligning resources with needs as required
- Provide guidance on risk management and adherence to WSP policies
- Act as an advisory to project teams, making recommendations that impact the organization's business
- Review, draft, and negotiate contracts and other legal documents related to services provided to clients in the public and private sectors
- Determine, develop, and implement internal organization policies and guidelines, training needs, and improvements in work processes and procedures
- Manage and support the management of litigation and dispute resolution-related activities in the assigned business
- Conduct or support investigations independently or in conjunction with the WSP Ethics & Compliance Team
- Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

- Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school, and a member in good standing of the Bar of the state in which practicing law
- Minimum of 18 years of legal practice experience in a relevant area, with at least 10 years as in-house counsel in the Architecture/Engineering or Construction industry
- Experience with professional services, government contracts, and intellectual property
- Undergraduate degree in engineering or related field preferred
- Strong judgment and alignment with WSP values
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
- Experience collaborating and supervising other lawyers and legal professionals on a national and global basis

- High degree of business savvy and judgment
- Problem-solving orientation

- Strong writing and public speaking skills
- Detail-oriented and analytical

Salary Information:
