A law firm in Purchase, NY, is seeking a Defense Associate Attorney to manage their own caseload under the oversight of partners. The ideal candidate will have litigation experience and superior analytical and communication skills, with admission in New York or certification for admission, and Connecticut admission is a plus.

Duties:

• Manage own caseload with oversight by partners.
• Draft motions, pleadings, and discovery responses.
• Conduct legal research and write memorandums.
• Attend hearings, court conferences, and mediations.
• Conduct and defend depositions.
• Attend inspections and consult with expert witnesses.
• Prepare for trials, including trial preparation and actual trials.

Requirements:

• 1-5 years of litigation experience in bodily injury, premises liability, automobile liability, wrongful death, or product defect.
• Superior analytical and communication skills.
• Admission in New York or certification for admission.
• Connecticut admission is advantageous.

Education:

Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admitted to practice law in New York.
• Certification for admission in New York.
• Admission in Connecticut (preferred).

Skills:

• Litigation experience in bodily injury, premises liability, automobile liability, wrongful death, or product defect.
• Proficiency in drafting legal documents.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Ability to manage own caseload and work under the oversight of partners.
