A law firm is currently seeking a Junior- to Mid-level Patent Prosecution and Counselling Attorney to join its team in Houston. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in interfacing directly with counsel and engineers at both established and emerging tech clients. The role will involve applying knowledge and experience in areas of subject matter such as artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, rockets and space-oriented payload delivery, automation, computer networking, encryption, graphics and animation, and computer gaming/e-sports.

 

Duties:

  • Interface directly with counsel and engineers at established and emerging tech clients.
  • Apply knowledge and experience in areas such as AI, cloud computing, rockets and space-oriented payload delivery, automation, computer networking, encryption, graphics and animation, and computer gaming/e-sports.

 

Education:

  • Possess an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, applied physics, computer science, or equivalent.
  • Hold a law degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

  • Registration to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, or the ability to qualify, is required.
  • Be a member of the Bar in the United States.

 

Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience in patent prosecution and counseling.
  • Strong foundation in electrical engineering, computer engineering, applied physics, or computer science.

 

Skills:

  • Demonstrated expertise in the subject matter areas, including AI, cloud computing, rockets and space-oriented payload delivery, automation, computer networking, encryption, graphics and animation, and computer gaming/e-sports.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with counsel and engineers at tech clients.
