The Senior Counsel, Real Estate & Construction will be responsible for providing legal support and guidance to the Real Estate and Construction group at Rivian. This includes managing internal customer relations, providing strategic support for real estate projects, performing documentation reviews, and advising on conflicts related to real estate and construction contracts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial real estate and construction, as well as experience working in both corporate and law firm settings. The role requires strong leadership skills, the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously, and excellent communication and negotiation skills. Key Responsibilities: - Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal clients to promote collaboration and create a team environment - Provide strategic support for the acquisition, optimization, and build out of Rivian's real estate portfolio - Collaborate with the Procurement team on architecture, engineering, and construction strategy to support Rivian facilities - Review and provide guidance on documentation related to real estate and construction, including title reports, leases, easements, and other agreements - Advise on and help resolve conflicts related to real estate, design, engineering, and construction contracts - Identify and communicate potential risks related to design, engineering, and construction contracts - Draft and negotiate a variety of legal documents, including leases, purchase and sale agreements, and construction contracts - Assist with property due diligence, including reviewing title reports, surveys, and environmental reports - Support continuous improvement of the Real Estate and Construction legal team by developing new processes and collaborating with internal clients to streamline policies and guidelines - Manage outside counsel to achieve Rivian's goals and objectives - Work on special projects as assigned by supervisor Qualifications: - . degree from an ABA-approved law school - Active member in good standing with a State Bar Association - 6 years of experience in commercial real estate and construction - Combination of corporate and law firm experience preferred - Automotive or manufacturing experience preferred - Strong ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced environment - Exceptional leadership skills and attention to detail - Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills - Ability to recognize and weigh business and legal risks and find creative solutions - Strong negotiation skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously - Willingness to travel as needed - Must be assigned to a local Rivian office, but day-to-day activities can be performed remotely Salary Information: - Salary range for Palo Alto, CA based applicants: $186,000 - $232,000 annually (Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law) - Salary range for Irvine, CA based applicants: $171,000 - $213,000 annually (Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law) Benefits Summary: - Robust medical/Rx, dental, and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26 - Coverage effective on first day of employment - Most premiums covered by Rivian Equal Opportunity: Rivian is an equal opportunity employer and follows all applicable federal, state, and local fair employment practices laws.
