Job Overview:

  • Utilize expertise in material science, chemical, mechanical, or biomedical engineering to provide technical support for patent prosecution, counseling, and litigation.
  • Conduct prior art database searches, analyze scientific documents, and draft patent applications and responses to office actions.
  • Excellent technical, written, and verbal communication skills in English are essential.

 

Duties:

  • Conduct prior art database searches for patentability and freedom to operate analyses.
  • Analyze patent and scientific documents to assist patent attorneys in patent prosecution, counseling, and litigation.
  • Draft patent applications and responses to office actions.
  • Provide technical expertise in material science and/or chemical engineering.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and clients to understand technical aspects of inventions.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in material science, chemical, mechanical, or biomedical engineering, or a related field.
  • Substantive industry experience in chemical engineering or material science.
  • Broad scientific knowledge in material science and/or chemical engineering.
  • Registered US patent agent or eligibility to sit for the USPTO registration exam.

 

Certifications:

Registered US patent agent or eligibility for USPTO registration exam.

 

Skills:

  • Superb technical, written, and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to conduct thorough prior art searches and analyze complex scientific documents.
  • Proficiency in drafting patent applications and responses to office actions.
  • Advanced degree in material science or chemical engineering is a plus.
