A law firm in Ft. Lauderdale, FL is seeking a Workers' Compensation Associate Attorney with at least 2 years of defense litigation experience. The ideal candidate must be licensed to practice in Florida courts and possess a proactive approach to working both independently and within a team.

 

Duties:

  • Draft, prepare, and handle pleadings, motions, orders, and legal memoranda.
  • Conduct legal research competently and with proficiency.
  • Prepare and respond to written discovery and dispositive motions.
  • Prepare and take depositions of parties and experts.
  • Review client documents, draft case evaluations, and status report correspondence.
  • Review, assess, and handle matters from inception to trial.
  • Assist with and participate in mediations and court appearances.
  • Interact directly with clients, claim professionals, opposing counsel, colleagues, and staff.

 

Requirements:

  • Prior experience in Worker's Compensation defense is preferred.
  • Must be licensed to practice in Florida courts.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong legal research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with superb organization and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to handle a caseload involving substantial litigation defense.
  • Knowledge of both state and federal court procedures.
  • Proficiency with MS Office including Excel, Outlook, and navigating the internet.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

Admission to the Florida State Bar.

 

Skills:

  • Proactive and self-motivated work ethic.
  • Ability to move from case to case efficiently.
  • Proficiency in handling a variety of practice areas such as workers' compensation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective client and colleague interactions.
