These internships provide valuable hands-on experience in a legal setting and offer students the chance to make a meaningful contribution to the work of the office. The internship program is open to law students enrolled in an accredited ABA law school, and offers both unpaid internships for academic credit and through participation in law school sponsored programs. The number and locations of internships available each term is based on agency need and opportunity. A summary page with a brief description of each unit has been added to the last page of the intern application to assist students in their selection. The following are some of the internship opportunities available through the Office of the Attorney General: Consumer Protection Division: This division is responsible for enforcing state and federal consumer protection laws against entities and individuals that engage in unconscionable, deceptive, or unfair practices. The division investigates a wide range of business practices, litigates in state and federal court, and obtains settlements or judgments that return money to consumers and require injunctive and statutory relief. Interns in this division will have the opportunity to work on cases involving a variety of consumer protection issues. Antitrust Division: The Antitrust Division is responsible for enforcing state and federal antitrust laws to promote competition and protect consumers. Interns in this division will have the opportunity to work on cases involving price fixing, monopolization, and other antitrust violations. Capital Appeals Division: This division handles appeals in death penalty cases and post-conviction proceedings. Interns in this division will have the opportunity to work on legal research, drafting memos and briefs, and assisting attorneys with case preparation. Civil Appeals Division: This division handles appeals in civil cases involving state agencies, including challenges to agency rules and regulations. Interns in this division will have the opportunity to work on legal research, drafting memos and briefs, and assisting attorneys with case preparation. Civil Legal Services Division: This division provides legal representation to state agencies and officials in a variety of civil matters. Interns in this division will have the opportunity to work on cases involving child support enforcement, ethics, and revenue litigation. Civil Litigation Division: This division handles a wide range of civil litigation on behalf of the state, including challenges to state laws and regulations. Interns in this division will have the opportunity to work on legal research, drafting memos and briefs, and assisting attorneys with case preparation. Criminal Appeals Division: This division handles appeals in criminal cases, including post-conviction proceedings. Interns in this division will have the opportunity to work on legal research, drafting memos and briefs, and assisting attorneys with case preparation. Cyber Fraud Unit: This unit investigates and prosecutes cybercrime, including identity theft, online scams, and other internet-related crimes. Interns in this unit will have the opportunity to work on cases involving cutting-edge legal and technological issues. Medicaid Fraud Control Division: This division investigates and prosecutes fraud in the Medicaid program. Interns in this division will have the opportunity to work on cases involving healthcare fraud and abuse. Solicitor General Division: This division handles appeals on behalf of the state in federal and state courts, including the . Supreme Court. Statewide Prosecution Division: This division handles complex and high-profile criminal cases throughout the state.
