A law firm in Austin is seeking a Water Practice Group Associate Attorney to perform substantive representation and client advocacy in the firm’s Water Practice Group and Government Relations Practice Group. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills, demonstrating initiative and sound professional judgment.

 

Job Details:

  • Analyze, evaluate, synthesize, and research case law, statutes, regulations, and documents impacting the firm’s clients.
  • Exhibit strong written and critical thinking skills, leading to comprehensive and persuasive writing.
  • Communicate clearly and logically (both orally and in writing) with internal teams, clients, consultants, opposing counsel, regulatory agencies, and courts.
  • Handle complex problems using initiative, creativity, and sound professional judgment.
  • Work independently and collaboratively as a contributing team member.
  • Prepare, organize, and manage documents from multiple sources, responding to requests (admissions, disclosures, motions, orders, etc.).
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and briefs.
  • Effectively communicate and coordinate with managing attorney(s) and support staff on project management.

 

Requirements:

  • Doctor of Jurisprudence (.) from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in the state of Texas.
  • Demonstrated interest in private practice and the practice of water and water utility law.
  • Westlaw or Lexis Nexis experience.

 

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Initiative, creativity, and sound professional judgment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Organizational and document management skills.

 

Experience:

1-3 years of experience in administrative law.
