Overview:

Hopper, a rapidly growing travel technology company, is seeking an experienced attorney to join their global legal team as Associate Counsel for their Consumer and Travel Agency businesses. In this role, the candidate will report to the Deputy General Counsel and work closely with the legal team, product leads, and other business partners to provide advice on complex product and regulatory matters, as well as negotiate and execute commercial contracts with partners and suppliers. The ideal candidate will have a mix of consumer product, regulatory, and transactional experience, and a willingness to take on new challenges in unfamiliar markets.

Responsibilities:

- Provide legal advice on complex regulatory issues, such as payments, lending, insurance, and strategic bank partnerships, at the intersection of travel, technology, and financial services.
- Advise product teams on legal and regulatory developments impacting fintech products and assist in developing innovative product structures.
- Help establish scalable and effective processes for legal review and launch of new products, including drafting and maintaining product terms and conditions.
- Draft, negotiate, and advise on travel partner and supplier contracts, considering a range of legal topics including intellectual property, sanctions compliance, payments regulation, and data privacy.
- Partner with the business on general commercial matters and negotiate contracts necessary for Hopper's operations.
- Advise on all legal issues affecting Hopper's global business, including consumer protection, intellectual property, data privacy, and corporate governance.

Requirements:

- . or LLM in the United States.
- Minimum of three (3) years experience in an in-house, government, or law firm practice advising on commercial contracting matters.
- Ability to navigate unfamiliar areas of law and new jurisdictions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in reviewing and solving complex regulatory and cross-border tax issues, and drafting commercial contracts.
