Job Summary:
- Apply industry knowledge and experience to advise clients on tax implications and accounting matters related to unclaimed property compliance and consulting
- Use tax and accounting skills in a consultative capacity to analyze and model sporadic data sets
- Recommend alternate courses of action and identify methods of complying with unclaimed property statutes and regulations
- Manage project management, presentations, compliance, audit defense, VDAs, client expectations, and deliverables
- Work with Core Tax and Audit Partners, Directors, and Senior Managers to provide SALT expertise to clients

Job Duties:
- Conduct research and analyze facts to compose detailed reports
- Develop relationships with tax authorities and stay updated on unclaimed property changes
- Prepare annual escheat returns and use software for data gathering and reporting
- Identify exemptions and perform reconciliations on data
- Respond to notices and assist with due diligence and client payments
- Provide exam support and communicate with clients and team members

- Draft memorandums, opinions, and other documentation on escheat issues
- Work with leadership to develop escheat planning process and address internal controls
- Represent clients on audits and voluntary disclosures
- Identify gift card planning opportunities and assist with implementation
- Assist with client interviews, workplans, and other consulting tasks
- Compile and organize relevant source data for escheat items
- Prepare and review data analysis templates
- Assist clients with remediation procedures and develop exposure quantification models
- Assist with client refund review process
- Apply state tax consulting specialties and confer with other professionals
- Ensure engagement letters are adopted and manage engagements
- Assist with consultative selling strategies and participate in relevant events
- Update CRM entries and manage client expectations
- Project manage multiple clients and projects simultaneously

- Utilize relevant software in completing tasks
- Maintain working knowledge of various GL systems
- Participate in learning and executing technology enhancements

- Supervise SALT Experienced Associates and Associates and review work product
- Ensure training on relevant software
- Evaluate performance and assist with professional development
- Deliver performance feedback and complete evaluations

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, or Finance
- 2+ years of experience in tax, financial statement auditing, or forensic accounting
- CPA certification, Attorney or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with Power BI, Alteryx, and other software preferred
- Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills
- Ability to meet project deadlines, work independently or in a group, and multi-task
- Proven ability to manage a team and build relationships
- Executive presence and ability to act as primary ,000
- NYC/Long Island/Westchester range: $70,000 - $125,000

unclaimed property compliance:

obtains and manipulates data from client to use in preparation of annual escheat returns
uses fsi track, bdo global portal and other systems for data gathering
imports data into fsi track and prepares returns
identifies appropriate b2b and other exemptions/deferrals
performs reconciliations on data gathered to data reported
composes responses to notices from state authorities
assists with due diligence letter processing
assists with client payment processing
provides assistance with exam support
communicates routinely with clients and up team members
