JOB TITLE: Senior Litigation Attorney

JOB PURPOSE:

- Provide efficient and skilled legal representation in workers' compensation litigation for MEM and/or its policyholders.
- Issue advisory opinions on legal issues, including policy inception and coverage.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Manage high exposure disputes and litigation, including trials and appeals.
- Provide legal advice on complex matters such as conflicts, discovery, lost time, medical treatment, and more.
- Appear in state courts and before administrative law judges for pre-trial, trial, and post-trial proceedings.
- Independently conduct depositions and other discovery, prepare pleadings and briefs, and create legal defense strategies.
- Negotiate settlements and conduct legal research.
- Contribute to management of partnering relationships with internal clients, particularly the claims team.
- Assist in review of outside attorney work and recommend best practices.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

- Juris Doctor Degree and licensed in Illinois and Missouri.
- Minimum of seven years of experience in practicing law with a focus on insurance and/or workers' compensation.
