A law firm is seeking a Trial Attorney for its Westbury, NY office with at least 4 years of trial experience. The candidate will be responsible for representing consumer financial services clients in plaintiffs’ litigation. The Trial Attorney will manage, prepare, and conduct hearings, trials, appellate arguments, and depositions on complex commercial litigation cases. They will develop legal and trial strategies, provide internal and client strategy recommendations, and communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and other parties throughout the legal process. The role involves managing trial, case, and court deadlines, litigating cases before New York trial and appellate courts, and preparing and arguing pre-and-post trial memorandums as needed.

 

Duties:

  • Represent consumer financial services clients in plaintiffs’ litigation.
  • Manage, prepare, and conduct hearings, trials, appellate arguments, and depositions on complex commercial litigation cases.
  • Develop legal and trial strategies and provide internal and client strategy recommendations.
  • Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and other parties throughout the legal process, including discovery, conferences, motion drafting, court appearances, depositions, and trial.
  • Manage trial, case, and court deadlines.
  • Litigate cases before New York trial and appellate courts, if needed.
  • Prepare and argue pre-and-post trial memorandums as needed.
  • Research, draft, and analyze federal, state, and local regulations or laws.
  • Maintain and update the firm’s case management system with the status of the assigned caseload.

 

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of trial experience.
  • Trial experience at the state level.
  • Strong analytical, writing, research, and communication skills.
  • Sophisticated knowledge of the rules of trial and civil procedure.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and oral advocacy experience.
  • Ability to work in collaboration with other team members.
  • Superior organizational skills, multitasking ability, and technology proficiency.
  • Strong work ethic and clear interest in trial practice.

 

Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
