Human Rights Location: New York City, New York Salary: $7,000 for 10-week program (supplemented for external funding) Experience: At least one year of law school completed by June 2024 The Center for Reproductive Rights is a global human rights organization dedicated to protecting reproductive rights as fundamental human rights. With offices around the world, the Center works to change law and policy through litigation, legal policy, and advocacy. The organization has a goal to have half of the world's population living under stronger protections for reproductive rights by 2030. The Summer Legal Associate will work on projects related to international human rights law, state and federal legislation, and regulations. They will also have the opportunity to participate in social events and networking opportunities. This is a full-time position for up to 10 weeks, with the option for a hybrid work arrangement. The Center encourages Summer Legal Associates to seek external funding, and will supplement it to bring all Associates to a pay rate of $7,000 for the program. Primary Responsibilities: - Legal analysis of international human rights law, state and federal legislation, and regulations - Conducting legal and factual research and writing memos for campaigns related to maternal health and assisted reproduction - Participating in meetings with Center attorneys, clients, and partners - Contributing to the Center's strategic approach to human rights advocacy and advancing human rights-based approaches to law and policy Qualifications: - At least one year of law school completed by June 2024 - Commitment to racial justice - Interest in reproductive health, rights, and justice - Strong legal research and writing skills Behavioral Competencies: - Develop & Manage Self & Others - Collaboration (People First) - Feedback (Improve & Innovate) - Accountability Work Competencies: - Project Management - Problem Solve & Make Decisions - Internal/External Focus - Communication & Influence Compensation: $7,000 for 10-week program, supplemented for external funding Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: The Center is committed to inclusive hiring and dedicated to diversity in our work and staff.
