A law firm seeks a Senior Litigation Associate Attorney in Grand Rapids, MI.

Job Overview: The Senior Litigation Associate Attorney will interpret laws, rulings, and regulations for clients involved in litigation, manage client relationships, conduct legal research, draft legal documents, and assist with all aspects of discovery. The ideal candidate will demonstrate superior legal skills, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Job Duties:

  • Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations for individuals and businesses involved in litigation.
  • Cultivate and generate new client relationships.
  • Manage new and existing client relationships.
  • Conducted legal research and drafted memos for partners.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and briefs.
  • Attend legal proceedings, including motion hearings, evidentiary hearings, mediations, and depositions.
  • Assist with all areas of discovery, including drafting requests and responses, preparing initial disclosures, and witness preparation.
  • Work with partner-level attorneys to determine document production strategies and vendor selection.
  • Organize, review, and maintain case documents; supervise or coordinate coding and database development.
  • Review documents for responsiveness to discovery requests.
  • Monitor completeness of discovery responses.
  • Review and assemble deposition, trial, and motion exhibits.
  • Index and summarize deposition testimony and exhibits.
  • Gather impeaching materials for adverse experts.
  • Prepare trial materials.
  • Attend and assist at pretrial, trial, and post-trial proceedings.

Requirements:

  • Superior intellect and ability to grasp complex legal issues.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to work as needed.
  • Good organizational and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in online legal research services and resources.
  • Superior legal writing and oral communication skills.
  • Sound judgment and ability to work independently.
  • Expertise in litigation concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to changing environments.
  • Experience with document/discovery databases (., Relativity).
  • 3-7 years of experience in complex commercial litigation.
  • Graduate of an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to practice law in the State of Michigan or have the ability to obtain admission.
