A prominent law firm in Houston, TX, invites applications for a Patent Agent position, offering an opportunity to collaborate closely with their Intellectual Property (IP) team. This role involves drafting and prosecuting patent applications before the . Patent & Trademark Office and providing vital support to IP attorneys in various patent-related matters, including Patent Office proceedings, patent litigation, and general patent prosecution. The Patent Agent will also be responsible for conducting patentability assessments and third-party patent searches, contributing to patent diligence for mergers and acquisitions, and assisting the IP team with patent clearance and enforcement projects. Candidates should possess essential skills such as patent application drafting and prosecution experience, proficiency in patent database searches, substantive academic and professional knowledge in the field, and exceptional time management skills for a fast-paced environment.
To excel in this role, candidates should hold an undergraduate degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering and have experience in prosecuting patent applications, preferably in mechanical and electrical engineering, with additional chemistry or biochemistry expertise. The ideal candidate should bring at least 3+ years of intellectual property experience in patent transactional matters, hold a USPTO registration number, and have an advanced technical degree, which is preferred.
